Planning on going on vacation? There are books which somehow go really well with the vacation mood. Some of them are presented here – and not all of them are light reading. Take a look at our list and enjoy your vacation.
Into the Wild
Written by Jon Krakauer, Into the Wild tells a story of a young man who decides to leave his ordinary and boring life and live a life of a hiker. It is a powerful story of growing up which is based on a true story and expands on the article written by Christopher McCandless, the protagonist himself.
The Skeleton Crew
If you are up for some sci-fi and horror short stories, the legendary collection of Stephen King’s short stories named The Skeleton Crew is just the right thing. It will both be an easy read which will, paradoxically, make you feel uncomfortable due to King’s great writing style. A must for every King fan!
A Walk in the Woods
Bill Bryson, the author of this book, wanted to walk down the famous Appalachian Trail accompanied by his close friend Stephen Katz. Although it may seem very humorous at first, the book actually dives deep into the topics such as the people’s nature and generally the world around us. A great read for the people who prefer hiking!
There Are No Grown-Ups
Pamela Druckerman, the author of this book, presents what seems to be an autobiographical story of a woman in her 40s who struggles to act her age. She is an expatriate who lives in Paris and faces various interesting situations that make her explore the nature of people in general. It is a relaxing read mainly written for the female audience!
If you happen to be a fan of the show called “Younger” you are going to be surprised with this one – Marriage Vacation is now a real book. It all started in the fourth season when Paulin Brooks, a fictional character in the series wrote a book. Brooks is now credited as an author and the book is a really good vacation reading material! Even if you do not know about the show – you will not regret it!
The High Season
The High Season is written by Judy Blundell and it is an ultimate reading material for a summer vacation. The book portrays one woman who lives by the sea and owns a beautiful house there. However, the problem is that she has to pay her debts and this means renting the house for the summer. The book is also mainly written for the female population, and it mainly revolves around themes such as family, money, and class.
